Pikom PC Fair 2011 (II)

Pikom PC Fair version II for the year 2011 is coming once again.

According to the Pikom website the schedule for the second PC Fair are

27-29 May
Johor Bahru

3-5 June
Melacca

30-2 June
Kuala Terengganu

1-3 June
Kota Kinabalu & Kuantan

15-17 June
Aloe Setar

28-30 June
Kota Bahru

29-31 June

According to this schedule, it was a disappointed because Penang isn't listed in the second version of the PC Fair. I think it is because in the first version, in Penang, there were two places in the island were having PC Fair but in different places.

Accounting Systems Analysis & Design

Yahoo!!! I'm coming home, I'm coming home.. tell the World I'm coming home.. let the rain wash  away all the pain of yesterday!!

Haha.. Finished my last paper!

This paper I just need to memorize the tips given by my lecturer. Each and every tips given by my lecturer were exactly the same! Or else I would die on this paper.

Anyway, just as the lyric above, wash away all the pain of yesterday, and heading for a better today and tomorrow. Now it is time for holiday.

Tomorrow I shall be in Kuala Lumpur for Youth Nation Summit 2011. Will update on this event soon.

Financial and Reporting III

Sorry for my late post. This post suppose to be from yesterday.

Out of all the papers I taken in this semester, this paper I worried the most as I messed up with the formula and my Statement of Financial Position couldn't get it balance! Hopefully I can get a good result for this paper.

Anyway, now I am heading for my last paper!

Opera Mini for iOS

Opera has just released its version 6, Opera Mini 6.0 that is available for iOS devices.

Opera Mini 6 is available for Free download via AppStore.

Tried on this new app by Opera, similarly to my phone's Opera Mini. The web would load in mobile version rather than desktop. It would save a lot of bandwidth for 3G model. However, to have the browser to load a desktop website, it would take longer time compare to Safari.

I tested on four websites : Google, Lowyat, Blogger and Facebook. Google and Facebook would load in mobile version and they loaded quickly. While Lowyat and Blogger, they would take minutes! to load completely. Thumbs down.

Sultan of Johor owns RM 5.2 million Fastest Car in World

I couldn't imagine any Malaysian would drive this Bugatti Veyron on Malaysia roads with the maximum speed limit of 110 km/h.

However if this car is owned by Sultan then it makes sense. This white blue Bugatti Veyron is owned by Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ismail. This car is price at USD 1.7 million or RM 5.2 million. This would be the first Bugatti Veyron in Malaysia.

This car is powered by an 8-litre W16 quad-turbocharged engine that produces around 1001 horsepower, the Bugatti Veyron is able to reach from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.46 seconds and a top speed of more than 400 km/h which made it one of the fastest production cars in the world.

PSD Scholarships Flummoxed

Once again this year, the newspapers reported grouses of top students of SPM were unable to get their choices of PSD scholarships.

Some scored very excellent such as 9A+ and 1A and wishes to get a degree in engineering in Germany instead is offered a diploma.

It happens every year and this year is different as our Prime Minister said anyone who gets 8A+ would get a PSD scholarship regardless of races, background and etc. However, these few days newspaper reported cases of top students obtaining the minimum requirement of 8A+ do not receive their preference PSD scholarship.

The worst was reported by the Deputy Education Minister, government officers who failed to follow Cabinet directives was one of the main reasons why top students failed to get scholarships. How come this can be happened?

It is sad to see this case happening each and every year. I recall back my time when I finished my SPM examination, I wasn't having excellent results to apply for scholarship, thus, I couldn't apply for the PSD scholarship but I applied for matriculation. Yet I didn't get a place in matriculation and had to further my study in STPM.

Stream Audio from iPad to PC

I like to listen to radio but sadly when my broadband monthly quota finishes, my line would be lagged and hardly to listen to online radio. However, my iPad can stream the online radio smoothly using the hitz.fm app (for Hitz FM, MyFM, MixFM, and Lite FM), MPB app (for Fly FM and One FM) and SingRadio app (for 988) even after my monthly quota.

All these apps can play online radio stations smoothly. But the problem is I need external speakers or earphones to play the music as I scare on the internal speaker would spoil if I use it to play music for long hours. Hence, I search in the internet and found this software calls, Shairport4w. This software allows Windows to wirelessly stream audio from iOS device similarly to AirPlay. It requires Apple Bonjour in order to run this software which is already available if you have installed iTunes.

All I need to do is download this software and run this software. This software doesn't need to install into computer. Then, open my radio app, MPB, let it runs on One FM. I can see beside the volume, an icon for me to choose either to play audio with my internal speaker or PC.

Now I can enjoy my online radio stations from my laptop speakers via iPad apps!

The tablet has built in Polaris® Office® 3.0 which can view and edit documents (.doc), spreadsheets (.xls) and presentation (.ppt) files. Yes Life for iOS

Few days ago, a new app released, Yes Life for iOS. This app was developed by YTL Communications Sdn Bhd.

So, I made a review on this new app. With this app, I can use the Yes ID to send SMS and make phone call to any Malaysia or International numbers through Wi-Fi or 3G network.

As I don't have Yes ID, so I need to register for a new one through Yes Life for iOS app. I run this app through my iPad and it runs at the iPhone resolution. Although I can double the screen, it will cause pixelation to the app.

I took within 5 minutes to register for the Yes ID and then I login into the app. This app will sync with my contacts list and show the contacts, message, call, history and more in the app.

I tried on the call and the SMS functions.

I am very impressive with the call quality. It is as clear as normal phone calling. Meanwhile, the buffer time to send and receive a reply for SMS would take around 5 seconds just like normal phone.

As this was a new released app, Yes Life trial application is available to be downloaded through iTunes and registration with this app would receive free RM 5 credit with 14 days trial. Before the trial ends, user is required to reload at least RM 50.

Based on current Yes packages, all of them do not attract me to subscribe yet as each of the month, I need to have at least RM 30 balance in my account each month and they will deduct the RM 30 in the balance each month. I am not a heavy user that would spend more than RM 30 credit.

Petition against abuse of strays

Come let's join in the petition against abuse of strays by municipal council workers.

The petition would be launched next week and come together we collect 50,000 signatures to condemn the cruelty of municipal council workers.

If you have watch a video last week on how the Majlis Perbandaran Batu Pahat (Johor) municipal council workers were seen brutally captured a stray dog. You would know the situation in details.

Hence, come support SPCA Selangor in nationwide petition to the Prime Minister to highlight on the cruelty treatment of municipal workers towards strays.

Join the petition which it would begin next week until end of this year in SPCA Selangor website

Company Law

Finished my third paper! Three down and four to go!

No doubts, this is one of the most toughest paper in university. Company Law. When I heard on law paper I recall back my second semester where my friend told me to eat more "law mee" (Chinese noodle) in order to memorize more to law facts especially the cases and sections. haha.

Yesterday was my another sleepless night as I need to read and memorize a lot of things as I am only managed to complete four chapters out of six chapters included in the exam. I was surprised when I read on the tips I received from friends as I combined all the tips, it would equal to, read the whole chapters!

In the end, I based on my lecturer tips to memorize and so luckily today I can answer all the questions. Yet I didn't guarantee on the correct answers. As each of us received a copy of Company Act 1965 book, I copied and pasted the definition for the sections but not entire sentences, I got changed the structure of the sentence :P

This was my first time to see the whole exam hall packed with students after the exam finished. No body went out early. If got, just a minority of students went out early. The rest stayed inside the exam hall until the exam was called off by lecturer.

Avoid Online Banking Phishing Site

I tell on my own experience on how to check and ensure that the online banking site that I login is genuine.

Let's take Maybank as an example.

Steps
1. Ensure your browser are on Private Browsing in Mozilla Firefox or Incognito for Google Chrome and Rockmelt. This is to protect yourself from saving any cache or history in your browser.

2. Go to Google.com

3. Type Maybank2u

4. Usually it would be the first one. Enter from Google to avoid being directed to phishing site.

5. Go to the online login page, ensure the address bar got the https rather than http and has the VeriSign.

6. Click on the More Information

7. Click View Certificate

8. Click on the Subject and ensure the O = Malayan Banking Berhad which mean this website is owned by Malayan Banking Berhad

9. Then you shall proceed with login into your online banking. Safe and secure :)

Click Like on the page to share to everyone. And be vigilant and NEVER login to any online banking site through email.
