Unwanted Bus Service Charge

What the hell..!!!

This morning I went to the Bus Prepaid Counter in DKG 1 to buy bus points.. I planned to buy RM 20 bus points which I can travel on bus for 36 times ( RM 0.55 per trip )

However, when I reached the counter, I saw this notice pasted in the counter..

Translated :
Attention. All students do not need to use the matrix card and prepaid top-up value for the bus service takes effect 28/12/09. Please note.

That's wonderful..!!! is what I thought when I read the notice.. UUM students are no longer required to buy the bus points to travel.. We can travel with bus without having our matric card scanning the scanner and we can travel unlimited for the whole semester..

BUT.. this sounds fishy.. there isn't a thing that is so good to be in UUM.. mostly are money minded (everything is also charging students)

My friends said this bus service is going to be paid by students by using auto debit to the student's school fees and would be paid by PTPTN loan.. haiz..

I checked my account statement in the UUM Portal just now and yet to put any fee charged for this bus service.. I believe this bus service fee is going to be RM 90.00 per semester..

As at 28/12/2009 11.00 PM

The UUM is going to charge the students soon and I am very disappointed with this idea as this semester, I am taking 7 subjects and all were packed together into 3 days of classes..

I would be using the bus service for 3 days only per week - when I'm going to class and I would be walking back to my room as my last class at 5.00 PM is at DKG 5 which is near to my hostel..

If I calculate, 3 times per week x 4 weeks x 4 months + 14 times (during exam time) = RM 0.55 x 3 x 4 x 4 + (14 x RM 0.55) = RM 34.10

I am paying RM 90.00 per semester while I am only using RM 34.10 bus service.. It is not valuable..

P/S : I wonder, would they charging every students including those who brought motorcycle or car to university..

Tang Yuen

Today all the Chinese in the world is celebrating the Chinese Winter Solstice Festival or Dong Zhi. This festival marks the passing of the harshest part of winter when the dark hours of night exceed daylight by the longest margin, which means that spring is around the corner..

By eating Tang Yuen or known as the rice balls symbolized you have grown a year older.. haha..

Yesterday, I didn't miss out the chance to make the Tang Yuen by myself together with my family members and relatives.. That moment was very exciting as I can't wait to eat my own handmade Tang Yuen.. hehe

Back At Last

Finally, I get back my laptop from the Toshiba Service Centre after almost one month to repair the LCD blinking..Yahoo..!!! my laptop with a new LCD.. hehe

I went to Penang with my gf to collect the laptop in the Thursday's early morning.. After we collected my laptop from the Toshiba Service Centre, we went to Komtar Perangin Mall for shopping.. We had our lunch and dinner there..

I forgot the name of cafe we had for our lunch.. We had sizzling mee and Tom Yam Fried Rice...

 Sizzling Mee

Tom Yam Fried Rice with Tom Yam soup

We had our dinner at the Home Recipe located inside the Perangin Mall.. We ate Fried Chicken Rice, Tom Yam Fried Chicken Noodles, Mushroom soup and Ice blended..

Home Recipe

Fried Chicken Rice

Tom Yam Fried Chicken Noodles

Mushroom Soup

Ice Blended

Dinner at the Home Recipe was delicious especially the fried chicken.. However, we were disappointed with the mushroom soup - so little and not nice..

As tomorrow is a public holiday, all the bus tickets from Butterworth to Kamunting were fully booked.. We were devastated with this but were lucky to be told there was a extra bus available at the Konsortium's next counter.. However, we were charged RM 10 per ticket.. OMG..!!! so expensive..!!! The bus was a old bus with 40+ seats.. Extra huge profit during the high demand as there are 3 days break for people to 'balik kampung'..

Flemington Hotel Blackout

Yesterday night, my gf and I went to the Flemington Hotel's Skybar to online as my gf's streamyx cannot be connected since one week ago.. I called to TM and the operator said my gf's streamyx housing area is downed.. I believe it is time to 'potong' if this situation remains..

Back to my story in the Flemington Hotel's Skybar, the blackout happened around 11.00 pm and everyone in the Skybar was shocked to find out the lights went out and they were in the dark for so sudden.. The blackout happened to the whole Flemington Hotel and the whole building was in dark for several minutes..

After several minutes of enjoying the romantic moments in the dark, the electricity went back to normal.. We can continue enjoy our online..

During blackout :

Back to Normal :

Thumbs up..!! For all the Flemington Hotel's staffs for quick and calm actions taken during the blackout.. I believe this was their and our first experience of this blackout..

In my opinion, this Flemington Hotel's Skybar is the best place for chatting and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Taiping Lake Garden.. With the radio (hitz.fm) is playing, two large LCD TV for viewers, WI FI for online enthusiasts and a lot of lights surrounding the Skybar for fantastic moments.. hehe

The Skybar's business hours are from 8.00 am until 1.00 am..

Final Results Released..!!!

The final exam for semester 1 - A091 has been released in respective UUM student portal.. The results were out one day earlier than the rumour which was on 11 December 2009..

I knew this news from my gf and friends' sms who have been asking for my results.. hahaha.. At that moment, I was sleeping so soundly until 6.00 pm I woke up and read the sms..

I immediately went to the UUM portal to check for my results.. I get 3.54 for my CGPA.. ( 3A, 1A-, 2B+, 1C+ ) I was devastated with my Kenegaraan Malaysia subject because I get C+ for this.. Haiz..

PIDN Documents

This morning around 11.30 am, I received my PIDN documents all together inside an envelope..

This agreement begins from semester 1 - 2009/2010 until semester 2 - 2012/2013.. Total 8 semesters and next semester I'm going to get both semester 1 and semester 2 allowances.. Hohoho.. A lot of money... but I need to use this money to pay back my first semester PTPTN loan.. In the end, I will receive a little bit extra money from the leftover after deduct the PTPTN loan..

Now I need to complete this agreement immediately as I was given a limited time to get the signature and send back to the JPA department..

USM Move To Subang

Several my friends are currently studying in University Sains Malaysia (USM) I heard a rumour from them said that the USM is going to move to Subang next year.. I very surprised with this rumour..

So, I surf at uncle google to clarify this rumour.. To my surprise, this rumour was true.. The USM is going to move to a temporary campus in Kuala Lumpur by middle of next year while waiting for the Subang campus to be completed in 2013..

Here is the source : The NST
Quote :

USM to join KL Academic Park

2009/11/22

GEORGE TOWN: Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) will join several international universities at the Kuala Lumpur Education City (KLEC) Academic Park.
USM and three other universities will offer non-competing core programmes at the 240ha Bandar Enstek development in Nilai.

Reading University and Liverpool University from Britain had confirmed their participation, and talks were under way with several American universities, said KLEC Advisory Board chairman Tan Sri Kamal Saleh after signing a memorandum of understanding with USM vice-chancellor Prof Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak yesterday.

USM's migration to the academic park was part of its continuous development as an Apex (accelerated program-me for excellence) university, he said.

And the university's expansion to the park, the first phase of which is expected to be completed by 2013, will ease the crowding at its three campuses here and in Nibong Te-bal in Penang and Kubang Kerian, Kelantan.

"We now have more than 20,000 students, and with our Apex programmes, we expect our postgraduate student population to double in the next five years from the more than 7,000 students today."

Dzulkifli said USM would move some of its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to the temporary campus in Kuala Lumpur by the middle of next year.
Programmes that do not require special facilities such as management, communication and arts will move first. Critical courses like medicine will move later.

The first phase of the academic park, said KLEC group managing director Kahlil Anwar Kamal, would cost about RM800 million.

The development of the park over the next 15 years will cost between RM1.5 billion and RM2 billion.

The first phase will include the construction of the campus buildings, housing and other infrastructure, which will be shared by USM and the other anchor institutions.

This news had disappointed my friend, Vimal who has started to adapt to his life in Penang.. I had been chatting with him regarding his successes to get a JPA PIDN scholarship like me.. But this scholarship was unable to heal his sorrows to leave USM, Penang..

This news is definitely going to disappointed a lot of USM students.. Until now still not all USM students know about this news.. If they found out about this, they are going to change their perception towards USM..

University Sains Malaysia = University Subang Malaysia..

Christmas Spirit

Christmas Day is just around the corner with approximate three weeks left..

The Taiping Sentral has been decorating inside the building with lights and Christmas trees.. There would be a lot activities going to be held inside the Taiping Sentral every weekends in-conjunction with the Christmas celebration, the New Year celebration and the "Back to School" sales..

Yay..!! I get the chance to celebrate the Christmas in Taiping this year.. Sadly, I have to celebrate the New Year 2010 in University Utara Malaysia..
