Bak Chang

Happy Bak Chang Day..!!

Haha.. Today, all Chinese around the world is celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival.. The festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. The festival is held to honour of scholar-poet Qu Yuan, who took his own life by jumping into the Mi Luo River. Fearing the fish would eat his body, Qu's friends and supporters made dumplings and threw them into the river so that the fish would seek out the dumplings ( Zongzi ) instead of Qu's body. In this festival, all Chinese are celebrating it with eating the Bak Chang (Rice Dumplings)

Few days before the celebration, my aunt made a lot of Bak Chang for my family and relatives. I had not seen all the process of making the Bak Chang but it wasn't easy as it needs certain skills especially wrapping the rice and ingredients into reed leaves..

~It has pork, peanuts, mushroom, dried shrimps, garlic inside~

Bak Chang is very delicious to eat but very expensive as market price is around RM 5 for one Bak Chang..!
